On 8 April 1879, the DELPHIN, a 79 year old wooden brig of Norway, weighing 136 tons and carrying 6 crew went ashore at the entrance to the Tay and immediately broke up. Sailing under Master P. Pedersen, Owner H. Dahl of Tonsberg, Norway. The Delphin departed Frederickstadt for Grangemouth, carrying wood. Two lives were lost (Master and Mate).
