Hospital, originally opened as a sanitorium in 1916. Ashludie House (NO43SE0104), built in 1866, was purchased in 1913 by the Dundee Corporation and converted into a sanitorium opened in 1916 and extended to north and east in 1928, with the addition of a nurses' wing. A separate sanitorium was built in 1932, with the hospital being important for the treatment of tuberculosis. In the 1940s Ashludie was used as a military hospital and emergency wards were built for wounded servicemen and air raid casualties. The hospital was finally closed in 2013. By early 2015 most of the hospital buildings had been demolished with the exception of Ashludie House and its attached wings. A standing building survey of Ashludie House was carried out by AOC in 2015.
