Remains of a large cairn recorded as a 'circular heap of stones, nearly level with the ground' by the Ordnance Name Book in 1859. It is visible as a vague stony mound (although noted as being scarcely recognisable during a site visit by the OS in 1958) which is circa 35-40 m in maximum diameter with a maximum height of 1.0m on the south. Indications of a kerb of large boulders are visible at ground level in the north and east. It comprises the remains of a burial cairn of prehistoric date situated in moorland at around 215 m OD. Despite disturbance to the surface by small rectangular turf structures, possibly the remains of pre-modern bothies, and a wartime pillbox (a possible type 27), it is to be expected that evidence for Bronze Age burial and ritual practices will survive in and below the mound.
