Site of cists. Two short cists were found in March 1875 in the gravel pit near Kirkbuddo Station. One cist contained the remains of decayed bones, accompanied by a beaker, 12.7cm in diameter and 14cm high. The second cist contained an almost complete skeleton, accompanied by a large boar's tusk, a flint knife and a beaker, 15.8cm in diameter and 19cm high. The two beakers, tusk, knife, and skull from the skeleton in the second cist were auctioned by Dowell's as part of the collection of John Sturrock in 1889.
