Details Remains of a cairn. The 19th century antiquarian Warden recorded that 'Haercairns' or 'Hoar Cairn' was said to be a very large heap of stones under which many human bones have been found. The OS Name book claims that Hare Cairn had-disappeared long ago- and was said to have been erected as a boundary cairn. When revisited by the OS in 1958, the cairn was described as having 'been considerably mutilated, but the outer perimeter is still visible, giving an overall diameter of circa 25.0m. The maximum height is 1.2m. A fence bisects it from north to south. It is clearly too large to be a boundary marker'.
