Site of a short cist. Excavated in spring 1984 by Sherriff. The cist was discovered when the capstone was dislodged. It was aligned northeast-southwest. Internally the cist measured 0.55 m long x 0.55 m wide and 0.33 m deep. It was constructed with sandstone slabs and the floor was the natural, bright orange gravel. The sandstone capstone measured 0.87 m long x 0.76 m wide and 0.10 m thick. It was 0.15 m below the then ground level. The side slabs were uneven, so horizontal slabs of sandstone were used on the north-west and south-west sides of the cist. The cist was placed in a pit, not excavated because of inclement weather. Within the cist were the remains of a cremation and a flint knife in a deposit of 0.10 m of soil and stones. The cremation is probably of a single individual, probably aged 25-30 and possibly female. The flint knife, of honey coloured flint, is unburnt, retouched and measures 51 mm long, 25 mm wide and 9 mm thick.
