A standing stone, said to have weighed 20 tons, was destroyed by blasting about 1830, and an urn about 91 cm high, containing bones and ashes was found 'at a considerable depth' on the site. The exact details of the find are not known, the antiquarian Reid wrote in 1909 that the urn was in a cist and Mr Dixon (merchant, Kirriemuir) said that more than one urn was found.
