Remains of a large cairn. In 1860 a very large circular pile of stones, near Tarfside, was recorded. It was described at that time as follows: 'It is about 30 links in diameter, set at the bottom with a ring of large stones. It is not improbable that this cairn may have had a cross on or near it, as part of this district is called Cairn Cross, but there is no tradition concerning it'. Blue Cairn, now much overgrown, appears as a mound 1.2m high on the North and circa 4m on the South, where its sides merge with a natural slope to the roadside. Scarcely any suggestion of its stone construction is now noticeable except for a heap of loose stones near its South edge. Four large boulders remain on the West, and one on the South, indicating the remnants of the kerb. The garden fence of a new cottage has destroyed the East edge of the cairn. The whole is situated in waste ground, and is in poor condition.
