Cup-marked stones discovered in April 1997. At least two of a cluster of sizeable boulders bear cup marks. The boulders lie next to a track and appear to have been dumped in their present position after having been split or quarried from a larger boulder or outcrop. The stone nearest the old track bears five cup-marks measuring up to 70 mm in diameter. Three cup marks are complete, two are truncated and there are indications of a drill-hole (jumper hole) in its split edge. The largest cup has a complete ring measuring 80 mm in diameter. The maximum dimensions of the stone are 1.08 m x 0.71 m broad and at least 0.4 m thick. Another stone in the group, 0.9 m in length, 0.82 m broad and at least 0.42 m thick, bears two cup marks and a shallow pecked arc identical to that on the stone described by Jervise (NO53SW0009) and similar to the Girdle Stane at Dunnichen. It seems most likely that these two stones, and probably the others in the group, were quarried from the same large boulder or outcrop.
