Details Gatepiers, still in use, flanking the North driveway to Melgund Castle (NO55NW0019). They are re-used, having been put here in the 1990s when the castle was partially restored. One is rectangular, and the other polygonal. Both are six feet high, squat and constructed of rubble with a flat cope stone. The polygonal pier may date to the 16th century.
