Remains of quarries, recorded by Sherriff in 1981. Numerous small quarry-pits litter the area south of the small wood at NO 507 537, some containing the remains of unfinished sandstone millstones. They average 4-6 m in diameter by 1-1.5 m deep. A few linear trenches are also present. The rubbings of millstone roughouts, provenanced as being from near Melgund Castle (NO55NW0019), are attributed by the RCAHMS to these quarries.
