Details Site of a castle. According to the antiquarians Warden and Jervise, a castle of the Abernethys, who held the lands of Dunlappie from the 12th century to 1390, may have stood on the southwest side of the West Water, opposite the Motte of Edzell (NO56NE0009). The castle was known as 'Poolbrigs'.
