Settlement remains comprising remains of buildings, lades and enclosures recorded by J Sherriff in 1984 and in further detail by the RCAHMS during a field visit in 1989. Centred at circa NO 5067 6932, situated on a slight terrace, situated 250 m southwest of Nathro and below the present track from the present farmstead, there are the remains of three, or possibly four, rectangular buildings and two enclosures. The buildings are defined by turf-covered stone footings between 0.8 m and 1 m thick and up to 0.3 m high and the three definite buildings measure 6.7 m x 2.4 m, 8 m x 4 m and 17 m x 3.8 m respectively. To the north, two lades run at an angle across the slope, one of which may contour round to the northwest, and on the southeast the settlement is passed by a track that runs down to a group of buildings 150 m to the west-southwest. This group (centred NO 5052 6918) has two buildings and is located on a terraced platform that projects from the line of a terraced trackway 500 m southwest of Nathro. The trackway terrace, which stands up to 1.5 m high on the downslope side, continues to both the northeast and southwest. The larger building which was still roofed on the (1865) 1st edition OS map, is a substantial structure defined by large boulder footings 1.5 m thick and up to 0.5 m high. The southwest compartment has been heavily robbed, and the whole platform has been disturbed by cattle. The remains of another rectangular building and bank, defined by boulder footings about 1 m thick and 0.3 m high, are visible on the north side of the track 500 m west-southwest of Nathro at NO 5041 6928. Field survey by CFA in 1997 also recorded a large clearance cairn circa 3 m long by 2 m wide and 1.5 m high at circa NO505691.
