Details Environmental survey area. An area of 2.2ha in the Lunan Valley, about 3km southeast of Friockheim village, was assessed for the presence of archaeological features and deposits in 1992 by AOC (Scotland) Ltd. This area encompassed the proposed development site of Parkgrove Crematorium. Four test-pits, each 2m square, were hand-dug at random intervals. A well-sorted loam topsoil directly overlay a compact sandy gravel subsoil in each test-pit. No archaeological features or deposits were identified.
