Remains of a well and supposed site of a chapel. St Ninian's Chapel, consecrated in 1485, is thought to be near this location, although the exact site has not been identified. The ends of several stone coffins were exposed when a road was driven through its burial ground towards the end of the 18th century according the Old Statistical Account (1794). St Ninian's Well was only a small hollow scooped out of rock but it had a reputation for curing various diseases. When revisited by the OS in 1958, St Ninian's Well consisted of a metal pipe protruding from a rectangular stone slab which is set vertically into the slope of a grassy bank, and which bears the inscription 'St Ninian's Well'. The main flow of water was probably redirected to the 'Wishing Well' at NO 6588 4115. Site visit during coastal zone assessment survey carried out by SCAPE between February and March 2009 noted that this and the nearby Wishing Well were in poor condition.
