An assemblage of medieval coins and objects, discovered during metal-detecting. The 24 objects comprise the following. A finger ring, 21 mm in diameter, complete and in good condition. The top of the ring is rectangular and has a raised diamond shape within the rectangle. A broken, twisted and incomplete annular brooch, 35 mm long and 25mm wide. Three lead whorls, all in good condition and displaying raised patterns and 12 x 25 mm, 15 x 30 mm and 10 x 34 mm respectively. Four buckles (one possibly a horse-gear fitment). A rectangular brass coin weight (25 x 18 x 2 mm) in very good condition. A sword belt fastener 45 x 21mm in fair condition and eleven coins. The coins were found in three locations, two were found with the lead whorls, an Edward III silver half-groat (19 mm diameter and a Mary billon (21 mm diameter), another two of them, both James VI billon hardheads (18 mm diameter) were found with the sword belt fastener. The remaining nine coins came from a different location. They comprise: a counterfeit Mary lion/hardhead (16mm diameter). A Mary + (possibly) Francis billon lion/hardhead (14mm diameter). Two James IV billon pennies, 2nd issue, type lvd (13 and 14 mm in diameter). A Charles II copper bodle of 1677 (18 mm diameter) and a James III copper farthing, ecclesiastical type II (possibly) and III (11 mm diameter). The coins show varying conditions of wear. Declared Treasure Trove (TT66/02) and allocated to Arbroath Museum.
