Details Farmstead, still in use, with a B-listed farmhouse. The steading is dated 1594 and 1714. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as an E-plan steading, open to the south-east, with a walled garden to the south-east, two rectangular buildings to the north, a rectangular building to the south and a farmhouse to the west. There is a small pond to the north-west, with a rectangular building beyond it. On the 2nd edition OS map the steading has been partially roofed and the central range removed, forming a U-plan. One of the rectangular buildings to the north has been incorporated or replaced by a much larger L-plan range. The pond has been infilled, with a pump on this site. Current maps show the steading has now been completely roofed. The rectangular building to the north-west is depicted as ruins, and the pump has been removed. The farmhouse is a small two-storey harled laird's house with a slate roof. It was formerly a mansion of the Melvilles, but has been harled and altered so no longer shows evidence of its age. The steading has an inset pediment with a datestone 'J M 1594'. A second datestone of '1714' was observed by the OS in 1968, as well as an armorial panel in the garden wall. Two bee-boles have been recorded in the garden.
