Details Site of a castle. According to antiquarian accounts the lands of Fithie were held by a family of that name from the 13th to the 17th century. A castle is mentioned in the early 17th century. Stonework from this castle was apparently incorporated into the structure of a cottage on the site which was roofed but empty in the late 19th century. The 7 m long and 2 m high easternmost portion of the southeast wall was constructed of old masonry and includes a doorway with early quoins, but the windows were modern. The walls were 1m thick, probably been dictated by elements of the masonry which had been built into the house. The rest of the cottage was modern. When visited by the RCAHMS in 1978 the masonry was interpreted as undoubtedly re-used from an earlier building, perhaps of Late Medieval date. At some time after this the cottage was demolished. Part of its gardens survive. The Masons' Mark Project records a masons mark on a stone which was removed to Kinnaird Castle.
