Details A watching brief was carried out in 1983 by J. Sherriff during the digging of foundations for an extension to No. 29 Bridge Street showed that the midden deposit partially excavated at No. 32 Castle Street (NO75NW0025) extended for at least 20 m westwards. Amongst several sherds of medieval pottery recovered from the spoil of the foundation trenches was one sherd of Scarborough Ware.
