Details Remains of a small camp which according to the OS Name Book (1867) was supposed to have been occupied by General Wade whilst employed in making the Edinburgh to Fort George Road although others say it was made by General Ancrum in 1745. There was no appearance of it having been fortified. Simpson (1947) stated that the camp was then fairly traceable and not impossible that the earthwork was thrown up by Montrose to shelter his baggage when he camped at Corgarff in June 1645, though could represent an encampment of Hanoverian soldiers during reconstruction of the castle. OS site visit 1866 recorded vague traces of bank visible forming a rectangular enclosure, but RCAHMS site visit in 1998 found no trace of earthworks within dense coniferous plantation.
