Details House and site of earlier house. The site of the original house is located to the west of the current property. The earlier house was constructed in the 16th century in the Scots manner: it was demolished 1963. The present house was built in 1894, designed by A Marshall Mackenzie. It has a 2-storey and attic/ 3-storey main block with circular conical roofed entrance tower and single storey and attic wing with diagonally set angle tower corbelled to square at the first floor. Built of coursed red granite. A sundial sits on the lawn to the south of the house. During World War I the house was in use as an auxiliary hospital.
