Details Recumbent Stone Circle surrounding a well-defined central cairn. The circle originally consisted of eight stones, one of which has gone. Only one stone remains standing, the Candle Stane. Both flankers have fallen, five other stones remain, all displaced except the Candle Stane. There are two possible cup-marks, on the east flanker and on the westernmost stone. The circle stands in conspicuous position with a trench-like quarry on its west side. Some spoil from a dump has encroached into the west side of the circle. Excavation by CFA in January 1997 revealed the remains of a possible ring groove house with three concentric circles of post-holes and some stake-holes. Internal features also included a large stone-filled pit. The entrance to house was in the southeast. The house lay within the stone circle: no artefacts were recovered.
