The masonry of quay is vertically set. The more recent harbour (New Harbour) dates from 1825-8, repaired in 1884, and is made up of a massive rubble L-plan pier and a straight pier forming a rectangular basin. Lining the quays are four rubble warehouses, two three-storey blocks, one five-bays with crow-stepped gables and the other six-bays with a forestair to first floor.
