Scots baronial mansion house, built in 1897 to a design by Niven and Wigglesworth (London) which replaced an earlier house built circa 1780 (named Kincardine Lodge). The present house was built to a Mrs Pickering who had purchased the estate in 1888. During World War I, the house was used as a Red Cross auxiliary hospital. The house served as a hospital again during the Second World War. An assembly of different styles and motifs from the 14th to 17th centuries, the house is asymmetrical, 2-storey basement and attic, harled with rock-faced dressings, bold castellated and early Renaissance detail. There is a C-listed stable block to the south-east (NO69NW0060).
