Standing stone, said to commemorate Lulach, King of Moray, a stepson of Macbeth who was killed near Rhynie in 1058. It is situated in a prominent position, yet in a poor one for the remains of a stone circle. Its sheer size suggests it is commemorative and not merely a boundary stone. OS site visit 1968 noted that the name but not the tradition is known locally. It is a large block of granite measuring 1m by 0.7m in section and standing 2.8m high.
