Details Remains of a firing range. An underground building is all that survives on the wooded hillside. No known record of it exists, but it possibly dates from the 19th century. It may have belonged to one of the Volunteer companies. In 1859 there was protest against the insufficiency of the national defences. France was considered to be a threat, showing hostility towards Britain. A number of local Volunteer Forces were formed beacuse of this. A 19th Corps was formed at Insch in 1867.
