Earthwork depicted on the OS 1st edition map annotated as 'Cumines Trench (Remains of)', running between NJ65283997 and NJ6559 3981. It was suggested by Crawford (1949) to be a Roman road. OS site visit 1973 noted that it remained as a ploughed-out shallow hollow averaging circa 10m wide, but that there was no trace of a bank on the southwest as suggested by Crawford, nor could the bank be seen crossing Owl's Den. Crawford's suggested southeast course is also a matter of conjecture as there is no confirmatory evidence on the ground. The ditch is obviously non-Roman and the manner in which it turns obliquely across the hill face at its steepest point suggests it is the remains of an old road.
