Details Site of a circular 'hill-slope encampment' recorded in OS Name Book 1867 and depicted on the OS 1st edition map. It is in a weak defensive position on a steep slope. The defences comprised a ditch between inner and outer ramparts, originally palisaded, but bank and ditch removed before 1867. According to the NSA (1845) the camp was protected to the northwest and east by lines of entrenchments. OS site visit 1969 found no trace but suggested that the description indicates a palisaded settlement. Now only a slight trace is visible on vertical aerial photographs.
