The farmstead of Tollo is depicted on the OS map of 1867 as Upper Tollo, with a Z-shaped range and a U-shaped range, with three other small buildings to the north, south and west. There is also a mill pond to the east with a lade leading to the southern small building, presumably the mill. By 1888 the Z-shaped building has gone another larger rectangular structure stands in its place. The U-shaped one is still visible with an extension to the south. There are now later additions, although a part of the U-shape appears to still survive. The pond is no longer depicted.
