Details Farmstead and former mill. The mill (category B-listed) is a 2-storey rubble building on an L-plan. It formerly had a kiln with an Aberdeen-shire type vent in the angle of the L, but this has been removed. Now gutted and the wheel, mid-breast, 0.91m x 3.66m in diameter, removed. It is now used as a grain store. There are finials at gables and moulded skew ends. It is depicted as a corn mill on the OS map of 1967 and 1888, with a lade leading from a pond in the southeast. Placemill farmstead lies to the east of the track. The 1st edition map shows to the north a rectangular building with attached enclosure, an L-shaped building also fed by the lade. To the southwest are two U-shaped arrangements of buildings, the southern enclosing the larger court. These have been modified by the time of the 2nd edition map which shows buildings grouped around the four sides of a single larger court. The building and enclosure north have been removed but the L-shaped building remains and a new building has been added to the west. A further building which stood west of the track at the time of the OS 1st edition map does not appear on the 2nd edition. Described in the Aberdeenshire OS Name Books, 1865-1871, volume 31 (OS1/1/31/51) as: 'A large farmsteading: the property of Alexander Morrison Esquire. Mr. W. Scott Tenant. There is also a Corn Mill attached.'.
