Details An Auxiliary army secret hideout lay within an area of woodland, south of Hills of Boyndie. It consisted of two Anderson shelters of corrugated iron buried under the ground and linked with a series of large concrete drain pipes to form entrances and escape tunnels. The area was cleared of woodland after the wall and turned to arable. The present farmer (2002) recalls the ground collapsing and exposing them. They had previously been unaware of them. The farmer flattened them and filled in the holes, as he was worried about stock falling in. Nothing is now visible.
