Remains of settlement and associated field system. An area of stone clearance heaps, field banks, enclosures and hut circles have been recorded in this area. The clearance heaps are 4.5 m average diameter by 0.7 m high, and there are at least two burial cairns at NJ 7920 0576 and NJ 7914 0587, measuring circa 8 m in diameter by circa 1 m high. There may be others in area. A survey of the area by AOC in 1994 recorded 36 sites which include at least 11 hut circles, four enclosures, nine dykes and seven cairns and cultivation ridges. The land has been under forestry more or less continuously since the middle of the last century. Several periods of activity were observed, from late prehistoric to early modern. A possible flint spear point was found in a hole left by wind blown trees in autumn 2013.
