Site of a short cist, found in July 1993 while digging a garden, circa 10.75m northeast of one of the avenue stones leading to Broomend of Crichie (NJ71NE0095). A large, cracked, granite capstone, measuring 1.4 x 1 x 0.16m, covered the cist. This in turn had been covered by a small cairn of water-rounded stones (these were removed by the owner of the house and garden). The cist was relatively undisturbed apart from one small area where part of the capstone was missing, into which the Owner had dug down into the cavity. The material removed by the Owner, a light brown sandy soil, was sieved but nothing was observed in this material. The cist was subsequently excavated by M. Greig and A. N. Shepherd. The cist was well-built, with clay luting in the corners, forming tight joints, and a pebbled base. No artefacts or skeletal remains were found within the infilled cist.
