Obelisk, dating from the 17th century, erected at this location in the late 18th century. It originally formed part of the 17th century designed landscape of the castle,. as one of two obelisks placed at the top of the Broad Walk, the avenue leading to the castle's principal, north, entrance. It is built of cherry cocked squared granite and surmounted with a ball finial. It stands about 7m high and bears no inscription. It is set into a base 1.18m square and 0.96m in height. The obelisk is 0.96m square in section.
