Details Remains of a designed landscape. The landscaped parkland, veteran trees and woodlands date back to the 1600s. Size in excess of 200 ha. Roy's mid 18th century map shows an axial avenue running southwards from the house, flanked by what may be lawns immediately south of the house and wooded enclosures beyond. To the northeast of the house Roy shows a wooded enclosure with a walled enclosure to its south and a straight avenue leading east from the house. In 1794 Thomas White was contracted to prepare a plan for remodelling of the landscape on the then more fashionable informal lines. The plan incorporated some elements of the earlier formal landscape, but also included sinous southwest and north drives. South Lodge, the bridges, home farm and stables were also built as part of this phase of developments. In the 1850s the landscape was remodelled to a design by William Ramage, involving the planting of woodland along the northern drive, laying out of the garden around the house, and construction of the North Lodge.
