It was in use as a Roman Catholic college from 1799 to 1829, when Blairs College, Maryculter opened. The mansion is of granite ashlar, 3-storey and attic, wit ha seven window front with entrance to centre bay, piended slated roof with piended dormers and a pair of symmetrical axial stacks. The interior was remodelled since college function ceased. The 2-storey galleried kitchen in the west section is now the kitchen at ground level.
