Details Mill and farmstead dating from the later 19th century. The original Mains of Towie stood to the north of the castle (NJ74SW0009) until some time after 1867 as it is depicted there on the 1st edition OS map. To the south of the castle and the farm is an L-shaped building which is probably a mill as a lade leads form a pond in the northwest to it. By the 2nd edition map the farmstead had been moved to its present position, although parts of the original are now outbuildings for the castle of Towie Barclay. The farmstead is an E-shaped steading with open courts to the east. The mill dam is still evident to the north but the lade now only leads to the farm and no longer continues on to the L-shaped building which has now gone. Today the pond and lade are no longer evident and the farmstead has been altered considerably.
