Details Former mill, dating to the early - mid 19th century, bounded by Manner Street Commercial Street. Rubble built, now dry-dash harled, with later slappings at ground level. It comprises a range of 3 and 4-storey and attic former bone mill buildings, possibly incorporating earlier mill and later meal mill; elongated L-plan block obtuse-angled at the north end overlooking court; rubble-built; interior has cast-iron columns, some paired, supporting each floor; iron mesh kiln floor survives to upper floor of centre block; no machinery. In 1837 this was a bone and sawmill producing bone manure. The range with the round-arched window (possibly the engine-house) may originally have had another purpose, possibly as a flax spinning mill of circa 1810 within the linen enterprises of the Robinsons of Banff. The mill later produced ground animal feed, hence the kiln. The OS 1st and 2nd edition maps also show a mill pond, sluice and dam on the east side of the complex; this has been infilled and built on. The building was badly damaged by fire 22/03/2020.
