Details A trial trenching evaluation was carried out at this site in advance of a proposed residential housing development. A series of probable 19th century dry stone boundary dykes 'essentially small consumption dykes' were recorded during Phase 1 of the evaluation. The dykes lay in the eastern part of the area investigated. They are shown as field boundaries on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. No other significant archaeological features or deposits were encountered during the evaluation. Phase 2 of the evaluation was carried out in March 2007, and recorded evidence for early modern cultivation in the form of dry stone boundary/consumption dykes and stone drains, but no other significant archaeological features or deposits.
