Castle, and site of later mansion. Tall rectangular keep with rounded angles, 4-storey and attic. It dates from the 16th century though the lower part is perhaps earlier: it was completed in the early 17th century. Richly detailed angle turrets, richly corbelled battlement walk on the south side only. The castle was deserted in the 18th century, then incorporated into a large baronial neo-Gothic mansion in 19th century. This was subsequently demolished when the castle was restored in 1964-7. The interior is now mainly of 20th century date but main features of original are the 3-chambered vaulted ground floor, vaulted first floor and complex wall stairs and chambers. See NJ82NE0078 for designed landscape, NJ82NE0046 for garden south of the castle, NJ82NE0043 for walled garden to east,.
