Country House, built by an Aberdeen merchant. still in use, now a hotel. Built in 1771 it is a 2-storey and basement building with a 5-window quoined granite ashlar front with a central wallhead gable. The porch and see-back 2-window single-storey wings were added later. There have been considerable alterations and additions by Matthews and Mackenzie in 1885, with a harled tower and ogee-capped Jacobean angle turrets added in court. There is a late first floor stuccoed addition over the porch. Antique-looking tower at rear replaced Turing's Tower, which fell about 1720 and was part of an early castle, now gone. See NJ92SE0087 for designed landscape.
