Details Gatepiers at the end of the old driveway to castle, built circa 1715. The comprise two piers with convex wing walls, the piers with alternate pulvination and double faceted diamond treatment and globular finials. Ellon Academy now sits astride the avenue originally laid out as an approach to Ellon Castle. The piers of the gate which terminated this avenue have been relocated to the east of the Academy.
