Details Mill of Aden, depicted on the OS map of 1867 as a woollen mill, with an L-shaped building lying on the north side of a lade and a smaller building lying on the south side of it, on a small island formed by the overflow lade running round behind it. A mill house lies to the northeast on the other side of a road. By the 1888 OS map edition it called Milladen and two other small buildings have been added to the complex. There is now a small row of cottages beside the millhouse. The mill was founded in the 18th century for flax manufacture and became a wool carding establishment in 1798. It was in hands of the same owners since 1836 till at least 1977. The main mill is a two storey and attic rubble building, housing the plant for making woollen cloth, including two condenser sets, four mills and looms, driven by an all-iron low beast wheel, built 1869, fitted with metal spokes in 1912 . A long lade leads from the west to power the mill. The property is again called Mill of Aden but the name Milladen is retained by a house now standing near where the original millhouse once stood. Plans to extend the mill to provide carding facilities and a new yarn store in 2007.
