Village of Maud as depicted on historic OS maps. It developed on a railway junction qwith a station (NJ94NW0034) originally named Brucklay Junction, the name adopted for the village that developed around it, although this was shortly after changed to New Maud. The station name was also changed to Maud Junction. The church was opened in 1876 and the central school in 1896. The OS 1st edition map shows the station, two schools, two banks and a market place. There had been significant expansion by the time of the 2nd edition map on which it is named Maud, additions including the Victoria Hall and two auction marts.
