Details Remains of a recumbent stone circle which has been substantially mutilated. Some of the tallest stones (over 3.35 m high) were removed in 1850, from the complete circle of nine stones. It was reduced to five stones in the southwest arc by 1870. By 1884 the remains consisted of the fire-shattered recumbent still in situ, the east flanker erect and in situ, the fallen west pillar with another fallen stone resting upon it, and another erect stone in situ in the northwest arc. Now reduced to the recumbent, one upright and one fallen flanker and one other upright. Some stones are piled together at field edge. An urn fragment in Arbuthnott museum is labelled 'found in 1840 beside the stone circle at Blackhill, Auchmachar'. It is not of Bronze Age type and the find spot was probably not noted with sufficient accuracy.
