Details Site of Fortalice of Ardendraught. Nothing now survives of the tower and fortalice, which was a caput of the barony of the same name. It probably lay on or near the farm of Aulton of Ardendraught. In 1492 Henry Cheyne of Esslemont was accused of the destruction of the 'Place of Ardendracht' which was then a seat of a cadet branch of the Hay family. Early in the 13th Century the lands appear to have been a possession of the Fedderates of that ilk. By 1696 they belonged to the Earl of Erroll.
