Details The small village of Port Erroll is depicted on the OS 1st edition map of as Ward of Cruden, a small fishing hamlet. Between 1875 and 1880 the Earl of Erroll, owner of Slains Castle, built a harbour (NK03NE0036) and the settlement was renamed port Erroll. By the time of the OS 2nd edition map the name had changed to Port Erroll. The layout remains similar, with some additional buildings to the north and southeast.
