Details In 2007, MAS carried out a programme of trial trenching on the proposed site of an extension to the cemetery of the West Church. Although the graveyard is adjacent to the site of a possible medieval motte and the old parish church of St Ethernan, no features of archaeological significance were recorded in the three trenches. Only a few flint flakes and a few abraded sherds of medieval pottery were recovered, the latter possibly associated with activity in or around the medieval church of St Ethernan.
