A wreck reportedly lies in this area. It was recorded by sonar in April 1945. The site, which is known locally as the 'knock wreck', was examined on the 11th February 1986 by HMS BULLDOG at 57 46 48N, 001 57 11W. The 4 range trisponder gave NGR eastings 402798, northings 876666. Decca (n scot) red d 19.56, green c 46.42, purple f 57.99. The least echo sounder depth was 59.2 in a general depth of 73 metres. The side scan sonar confirmed that there were no scour pits. The vessel is lying with its keel orientated 035/215 degrees with the bows to the northeast. Its length is about 133.7 metres (436 feet), and its beam is 26.9 metres (88 feet). The wreck has two high points and has a build-up of sand against it to south.
