Details Parish church, built on site of earlier church. The original 1771 parish church was found to be unsafe in 1779 and by 1795 was also inadequate for the increasing population. The present church was built in the early 19th Century, and seats 1750-2000 people. It is built in the severe classic style, and the steeple is linked to the main body with a flanking wallhead balustrade. It has a U-plan gallery on reeded Roman Doric columns, and a finely panelled gallery front. A new pulpit was added and general restoration and redecoration carried out in 1894. The hall was added in 1896.
